Welcome abord!

Audio softwares and ST/Falcon games will work depending on the core you use.

Dated 02-16-2025. The informations below may change depending on the current
developments.

You can remove this file from desk after reading: drag its icon to the trash.

1) with an Amiga-core (and Olivier Landemarre's version of EmuTOS):

- PSG sound chip is not there, but may be emulated (see in AUTO folder) for
a few programs such as programs/emul/CaSTaway

Though, SNDH player nor SNDH routines won't play sound.

- XBIOS DMA sound (Falcon compatible) is handled.

- Better use programs/emul/CaSTaway to play old ST games.

- For Ishar1+2, drag'n'drop programs/games/Silmarils/IsharN folder on alis.ttp
which is a Silmarils game interpretor/runner.

- NVRAM is saved on C:\ root. Boot preferences are thus kept.

2) with Atari-core (and built-in Shoggoth's version of EmuTOS):

- PSG sound chip, MFP and some Atari ST/Falcon legacy chips are implemented.
But not yet XBIOS DMA sound (Falcon compatible).

- So you can disable (delete or rename into .PRX) PSGXBIOS.PRG in the AUTO
  folder.

- programs/audio/sndplay is supposed to generate from musics/sndh files.

- Some programs/audio/mxPlay/plugins/audio *.mxp related to MOD+MP3 must be
disabled for now and sndh.mxx can be remaned into .mxp.

- You can try to run ST/Falcon games natively, without programs/emul/CaSTaway.

- For Ishar1+2, try to launch natively START.PRG located in the IsharX folders.

- NVRAM is not yet saved. Without FreeMiNT, keyboard and langue choices may
  remain the default stock ones.

3) Boot order in AUTO folder is important. From first to last:

  - PSGXBIOS.PRG or .PRX
  - NVDI.PRG
  - MINTLOAD.PRG

There is tools/AUTOSORT.PRG to help you reorder.

4) Most useful keys shortcut under XaAES: Ctrl+Alrt+L (task manager and more).

FreeMiNT is configured to redirect raw PRINTs to u:\ram\console.log

5) Consider upgrades:

Thing desktop 1.27 to Thing Neo 1.60, at http://thing.lutece.net

MyAES instead of XaAES, at http://myaes.lutece.net/#download

  Some taskbars choices for XaAES:
  - Motosu at http://motosu.gokmase.com
  - Joska's at http://atari.joska.no/Taskbar/beta/

Cheers!
